Whether you’re new to Reiki or revisiting energy work, understanding what to expect can help you feel more open and relaxed. Reiki is gentle, non-invasive, and deeply supportive.

Every Reiki session is unique, but here’s a general outline of what clients can expect:
1. Setting the Space
The session takes place in a calm, quiet space. Soft music, incense, or crystals may be used to enhance the healing atmosphere. The environment is created to help you feel safe, grounded, and supported.
2. Intention Setting
You may be invited to set an intention—something you’re seeking clarity or healing around. This guides the energy flow and aligns the session with your inner needs. Your practitioner may ask a few questions to understand your needs—physically, emotionally, or spiritually. You can share any specific concerns or simply set an intention for healing (e.g., “I’d like to release stress” or “I want more clarity”).
3. Fully Clothed : Lying Down and Receiving
You remain fully clothed, lying comfortably on a massage table or mat.
The practitioner will gently place their hands on or slightly above different parts of your body—especially over the chakra (energy) centers. There is no pressure or manipulation, just light touch or hovering. You might feel warmth, pulsing, or even subtle movements of energy.
Some practitioners may start from the head or feet and move upward or downward, depending on your energy.
4. Deep Relaxation
Many people fall into a meditative state or light sleep. The mind quiets, the body releases tension, and the energy begins to work on deeper layers.
As the energy flows, you may experience:
- A feeling of warmth or coolness where hands are placed
- Tingling, pulsing, or light buzzing
- Gentle emotional release (tears, calmness, or laughter)
- A sense of floating, inner stillness, or deep peace
- Visions, colors, or images behind closed eyes
These sensations are signs that energy is moving and chakras are aligning—but even if you feel nothing, the healing is still happening.
5. Closing and Sharing
After the session, the practitioner may share observations or intuitive messages. You may feel peaceful, emotional, or deeply rejuvenated. Drinking water, resting, and allowing time for integration is often recommended.
You may be invited to share your experience or insights. The practitioner might also share anything they sensed during the session (such as energetic blocks, intuitive messages, or chakra imbalances).
6. Aftercare Suggestions
- Drink water to help flush out released energy
- Rest or journal if you feel called
- Be gentle with yourself—healing may continue for hours or even days afterward
