Usui Shiki Ryoho
Reiki is a gentle yet powerful, traditional energy healing method founded by Dr. Mikao Usui, in Japan. It was based on the Buddhist teachings of Meththa (Loving Kindness), Karuna (Compassion), Muditha (Empathy) & Upekkha (Equanimity). Healing is an art, combined with all these qualities developed through the healer. Gaining in popularity over the last century- in the West, Reiki healing made a huge impact to the world health care industry, now it’s a recognised method by the World Health Organisation as an alternative therapy for medications.
Mikao Usui (1865–1926) was a Japanese spiritual teacher and the founder of the Usui Reiki healing system. He developed Reiki in the early 20th century as a holistic practice for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. After a period of intense meditation and fasting on Mount Kurama, Usui experienced a profound spiritual awakening that became the foundation for Reiki. He began teaching and sharing this healing method, emphasizing self-growth, inner peace, and compassionate living. Today, Usui’s legacy lives on through millions of Reiki practitioners around the world.
